The South Sudan National Police Services (SSNPS) on Saturday launched an Emergency Call Center in Wau State with the toll-free 112 number.

According to the spokesperson of police, Daniel Justin, the center will serve the local citizens within Wau state, instead of being directed to the main headquarters in Juba, the capital city.

In July 2014, SSNPS launched its first ever Emergency Call Centre in Juba as a pilot. Then in 2016, more than 150 policemen and women in Wau were trained as police responders in anticipation for the establishment of the center in Wau.

Justin said the center in Wau will enhance the capacity of the police to respond to emergencies swiftly, professionally and effectively within Wau State.

He said more centers will be opened across the country.
