Several South Sudanese pensioners who had served in the Sudanese army before separation in 2011 said they are still demanding unpaid benefits and entitlements from the Khartoum government.

Richard Aldo Mawien, head of the South Sudanese pensioners committee in Al-Gineina town, told Radio Tamazuj that they receive 200 SDG monthly while Sudanese pensioners are paid 700 SDG.

He pointed out that retired soldiers who hail from South Sudan are given 34,000 SSP as their post service benefits while Sudanese nationals are paid 80,000 SDG. Mawien called upon the Sudanese army to pay them fully.
