The Secretary General of the South Sudan Basketball Federation is aiming to participate in the World Indigenous Basketball Challenge that will be held in Canada next month.

Acuil Banggol, the Secretary General of the SSBF, requested from the Ministry of Culture funds to attend to the 16 team basketball tournament of Indigenous nations. It is the first international competition since South Sudan joined the International Basketball Federation, or FIBA, and will feature Indigenous and Island Nation teams from around the world.

Three members are proposed to travel from Juba — Banggol, Kerbino Wol, and Athiey Lual. They are expected to meet up with thirteen other players in the United States and Canada.

There are expected to be two divisions — an international division including teams from Bermuda, Haiti, Zambia and Somialia — and a division of teams from North America.
