South Sudan will export an estimated 4 million barrels of oil in June, down from 4.4 million barrels in May, according to energy news agency Platts. This represents a drop of 9%.

Citing trade sources, Platts reported that four cargoes of 1 million barrels of oil each from South Sudan’s oil blocks 3 and 7 in Upper Nile state are scheduled for export in June.

Two of those cargoes were sold by the Ministry of Petroleum to Chinese consumers at a discount of $7-8 per barrel. The other half of South Sudan’s monthly oil output was sold by another entity said to be China National Petroleum Company, also at a discount.

Platts did not report a reason for the drop.
