South Sudan mourns Supreme Court judge Aleu

South Sudan government has condoled with the family of Justice Aleu Akechak Jok also known as Aleu Mayendit who died in the Egyptian capital Cairo recently.

South Sudan government has condoled with the family of Justice Aleu Akechak Jok also known as Aleu Mayendit who died in the Egyptian capital Cairo recently.

Presidential spokesman Ateny Wek Ateny and family members announced the death of Justice Aleu Akechak. But no immediate statement was issued about the cause of his death. 

Ateny said the death of Justice Aleu shocked not only the family members but also members of his Aweil community and all South Sudanese.

“The untimely death of Justice Aleu Mayendit is not only shocking to the family but to the entire Mading Aweil Community and South Sudan as a whole. Therefore, I would like to convey my sympathies and condolences to the bereaved family, the entire Aweil community, the Judiciary of South Sudan, and of course, the people of South Sudan. The late Justice Mayendit would be missed dearly as his death came too early and the gap he has left is too wide to be filled anytime soon,” Ateny said.

Aleu had served in various capacities after he graduated from the University of Khartoum in 1977.
