President Salva Kiir has criticized the regional approach to conflict resolution in South Sudan saying his country has become a field of experiments that have never been done before.

Kiir said this during the swearing -in ceremony of his new foreign minister, Nhial Deng Nhial on Wednesday.

“South Sudan has become a field of experiments, things that have never been done in any government or any country are being tried in South Sudan, whether they will wrok or not,” he said.

However, the South Sudanese leader said he welcomes any approach that will bring peace and stability in the country.

“People of South Sudan are looking for peace and if that arrangement can bring about peace to the people of South Sudan, I am ready to take it,” he said.

“People talk about inclusivity; nobody is to be left out of the government. I accepted it,” he added.

Sudanese mediators have recently proposed five vice presidents, with opposition leader Riek Machar reinstated as first vice president.

The mediators also called for 35 ministries during the transitional period and there will be 550 members of parliament.
