South Sudan’s presidential spokesman Ateny Ateny Wek Ateny said the transitional parliament is authorized to deliberate and decide on the UN Security Council resolution for the deployment of a strong regional protection force in the country.

In an interview with Radio Tamazuj, Ateny said the transitional parliament is the only government body authorized to decide on the UN Security Council resolution.

“According to the speech of the president, he directed the parliament to deliberate on the UN Security Council resolution for the deployment of regional troops in South Sudan. So the parliament is the only body that will decide “said Ateny.

Addressing the parliament on Monday, President Kiir said his government will consider a United Nations plan to send regional troops into Juba.
