South Sudan governors wrap up peace conference in Mvolo County

A four-day peace conference bringing together more than four governors and representatives from states that share common borders in South Sudan has concluded in Mvolo County in Amadi State with calls to enhancing peaceful coexistence and cooperation.

A four-day peace conference bringing together more than four governors and representatives from states that share common borders in South Sudan has concluded in Mvolo County in Amadi State with calls to enhancing peaceful coexistence and cooperation.

The event held between 27 and 30 May, brought together governors and representatives of Amadi, Maridi, Terekeka, Eastern Lakes, Gok and Western Lakes States.

The agreement was witnessed by Episcopal Bishop John Abraham Nyari and Director of UNMISS Civil Affairs Division, Guang Cong.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Thursday, the governor of Gok State Madhang Majok Meen said the agreement was signed to consolidate peaceful coexistence and security between the states.

He applauded the United Nations mission in South Sudan and VISTAS for facilitating the inter-state dialogue. Governor Madhang further said the conference also recognised and appreciated the efforts of governors and other participants who played a role in the dialogue.
