South Sudan gov releases Zande chief after health deteriorates

Wilson Peni Rikito, Paramount Chief of the Azande tribe has been released today at about 4 p.m. by the South Sudanese government after his health deteriorated in detention, according to sources this evening. 

Chief Peni was arrested in Yambio nearly a month ago and later brought to the National Security detention center in juba. 

Radio Tamazuj earlier on Saturday reported about his deteriorating health condition. 

Peni is paramount chief of the Zande, one of South Sudan’s largest tribes.
