South Sudan FVP to attend AU summit

South Sudan’s First Vice President Taban Deng Gai left for Ethiopia on Sunday to attend the 29th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union to be held in Addis Ababa from 3-4 July.

South Sudan’s First Vice President Taban Deng Gai left for Ethiopia on Sunday to attend the 29th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union to be held in Addis Ababa from 3-4 July.

Gai, who was accompanied by senior government officials, will represent President Salva Kiir during the summit.

The meeting will take place under the theme, “Harnessing the Demographic Dividend through Investment in the Youth”.

The summit is expected to discuss institutional reforms of the AU, roadmap of practical steps to silence guns in Africa by 2020, the Continental Free Trade Area (CFTA), and security in Africa.
