South Sudan FVP promises pause in support of Sudanese rebels

South Sudan’s new First Vice President Taban Deng Gai has promised the Khartoum government to solve the issue of Sudanese rebel groups on their territory within 21 days, a spokesperson for the Khartoum government said.

Ahmed Bilal Osman, Minister of Information, told Radio Tamazuj yesterday that the Sudanese government shared its concerns with Taban Deng about the presence of Darfur armed groups and the SPLM-N rebels within the South Sudanese territory.

The government official pointed out that South Sudan’s First Vice President vowed to stop any support to the Sudanese rebels within 21 days. He added that they also discussed issues pertaining to oil production in South Sudan.

Bilal revealed that the two sides agreed on several issues that will be announced by Taban Deng in Juba.Bilal underscored that they support the deployment of 4,000 regional troops in Juba in order to restore security and peace in South Sudan.
