South Sudan’s national football team arrived in Juba on Tuesday evening via Addis Ababa coming from Benin, after playing a second leg match against Benin on 27 March, which ended in favor of Benin 4-1, in the qualifiers of African Cup of Nations 2017 Gabon.
Speaking to the press at Juba Airport, head of South Sudan’s mission to Benin Juma Chubor said that the reasons that led south Sudan to lose the match against Benin were the late preparation for the team, the travel distance, and climate change.
The Sports Director at the Ministry of Culture Youth and Sports Edward Setimo, who accompanied the team to Benin, said that the team of South Sudan was also suffering from a lack of financial support and the government will support them in the coming period.
