South Sudan First Lady sends donations to Bor town

The Office of the South Sudan First Lady has donated food items, clothes and mosquito nets to internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Bor, the capital of Jonglei state.

The state has been contested since the mutiny in mid December of forces under the command of Peter Gadet, head of SPLA Division 8 based at Pan-pandiar.

According to a reporter in Jonglei, First Lady Mary Ayen Mayardit donated food items that include 521 bags of maize floor at 50 kg, 38 bags of sugar at 50 kg, 250 bags of rice 50 at kg, and 9 cartons of milk, while the non-food items include 13 bales of mosquito nets, 22 tents, and 13 bales of mixed clothes.

While speaking to the press in Bor on Friday, the First Lady’s office secretary Nhomi Adhieu on behalf of Mary Ayen Mayardit expressed deep concerned over the Jonglei crisis.

The secretary also asked the internally displaced persons to return home since the security of state has returned ‘back to normal.’

The items where received by the Acting Governor of Jonglei state Aquila Maluth Mam, who expressed appreciation for the role played by the First Lady’s office.

The acting governor ordered distributions for items to the IDPs present in Bor town at the same time as they were offloaded from the trucks.
