South Sudan’s presidency on Tuesday denied meeting Sudanese rebel leaders, saying the Juba government was not hosting insurgents fighting the Sudanese government.
Sudan’s Intelligence Agency on Monday accused South Sudan President Salva Kiir of meeting rebel leaders of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-North) in Juba over the week.
Speaking to reporters in Juba on Tuesday, South Sudan’s presidential spokesman, Ateny Wek Ateny, denied reports that President Kiir met with Sudanese rebels in Juba.
Ateny claimed that the allegations were unfounded and baseless.
Sudan and South Sudan have frequently accused each other of supporting opposition groups fighting both governments.
