The South Sudanese delegation to the 76th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) prepares for travel to New York in the United States of America.
Last week, South Sudan President Salva Kiir Mayardit delegated the Vice President for Gender and Youth Cluster Rebecca Nyandeng de Mabior to lead the country's delegation.
VP Nyandeng told Radio Tamazuj on Monday that the high-level delegation she will head is preparing itself for the mission.
"The general assembly will be on the 21st so we are waiting for our Visas. When the Visas are out, some of us will go and others will follow later. I am going with five ministers from the revitalized government of national unity," she said.
She, however, did not disclose which of the ministers will travel with her.
Nyandeng, who is expected to address the assembly on the implementation of the revitalized peace agreement, will be the first female leader to represent the country at the assembly.
The 76th session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA 76) will open on Tuesday, 14 September 2021. The first day of the high-level General Debate will be Tuesday, 21 September 2021.
