South Sudan, China sign deal on economic and technical cooperation

South Sudan and China have recently signed an agreement on economic and technical cooperation in the capital Juba.

 He Xiangdong, Chinese Ambassador to South Sudan and Hon. Deng Alor Kuol, South Sudan Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of South Sudan signed the Agreement.

Speaking during the signing ceremony, Minister Deng Alor thanked China for its strong support and generous assistance. He said that suffering from years of war, South Sudan has serious food shortages and backward communications infrastructure.

He pointed out that the aid provided by China will play an important role in alleviating the humanitarian crisis and improving communication facilities in this new country.

For his part, Ambassador Xiangdong said that China attaches great importance to developing friendly and cooperative relations with South Sudan.  He pointed out that the signing of the agreement on economic and technical cooperation aims to provide humanitarian aid and help South Sudan in its effort of building radio and television facilities.

In view of the needs of the government of South Sudan, the government of China agreed to provide a grant of 63 million US dollars, for humanitarian assistance and the implementation of China-aided projects including the broadcasting facilities.
