South Sudan bans night functions in Juba area

Authorities in the newly created Jubek state in South Sudan have issued a directive banning all night functions, including parties ,social gathering like wedding in the capital of Juba. The measure is seen a bid to control rise in the killings that have rocked the city in recent months. The government of Jubek State issued an order on Friday evening banning operation of night clubs and social gatherings within the city. Jubek State Information Minister Sala Rajaf said anyone who contravenes the order will face punitive measures from authorities. "All clubs and marriage functions during the night are banned in the city, unless they get permission from the relevant authorities," Rajaf said. The South Sudanese capital has experienced rise in insecurity in recent weeks. At least 12 football fans were killed early this month when an unknown gunman attacked a bar where a crowd was watching a football match on TV.
