South Sudan and Egypt to sign military cooperation deal

South Sudan and Egypt plan to sign a framework deal for military cooperation after a high-level delegation from the Egyptian military arrived in Juba on Monday morning to hold talks on military cooperation.

According to senior South Sudan military officials, talks between the two sides will conclude with signing of agreements of cooperation in different fields.

Speaking to reporters at Juba International Airport, Dr. Dau Alier, Director General of the Military and Economic Cooperation at the Ministry of Defense and Veteran Affairs said the Egyptian delegation will be in Juba for the next five days.

“We have received this delegation coming from the Arab Republic of Egypt for cooperation in the field of production and we have prepared six programs for them and then from there we will sign on the final day on what we had agreed upon.  We are targeting areas of production in agriculture, mining etc,” Alier said.

The five member delegation is headed by Lt. Gen. Mustafa Amin Ali who did not address the press.
