South Sudan accuses Khartoum of new attack in Raja County

South Sudan’s Western Bahr al-Ghazal state minister of information told Radio Tamazuj over the phone on Monday that the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) launched a new attack in Raja County on Friday.

Alfred said the attack targeted the areas Diem, Gulab and Kitkit. He claimed that as many as 70 people were wounded and taken to Wau Hospital for treatment.

Radio Tamazuj could not independently verify these claims.

“The capital of Western Bahr-el-Ghazal in its emergency would like to send a clear message that it has been subjected to a serious violation by Khartoum,” said the minister and government spokesman.

Less than two weeks ago, South Sudan’s national government spokesperson Barnaba Marial Benjamin announced bombings in the same state and in neighboring Northern Bahr al-Ghazal.

The northwestern border between Raja County and South Darfur has not been demarcated. The disputed area is known as the Kafia Kinji Enclave.
