Several traders in Sudan’s South Kordofan State have complained about confiscation of goods by Military Intelligence Service over alleged smuggling to South Sudan.
Ahmed Al Hassan, a trader in Al Tartar area in El Tadamoun Locality, told Radio Tamazuj that security agents have been harassing traders who transport goods to South Kordofan state.
The complaining trader said there were restrictions on approvals and allowing goods to reach the state over alleged smuggling goods to South Sudan.
“There are areas that need consumer goods in South Kordofan, but the restriction on the traders caused high prices in some areas,” he said.
Radio Tamazuj recently reported that Military Intelligence confiscated three lorries loaded with goods in Al Hamra area of Jidaid Abu Nawara Locality.
