The Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N) attacked a convoy on Wednesday in South Kordofan killing five soldiers.
SPLM-N military spokesman Arnu Ngutulu Lodi said in a press release on Wednesday that their forces attacked a number of army, militia and security troops who were guarding a commercial convoy en route from Kadugli to Delling that morning.
Four army soldiers were killed, as well as a member of the paramilitary Central Reserve Police, he said.
The governor of South Kordofan state, Adam El Faki, confirmed the attack on the convoy in a press statement on Wednesday evening, saying that five government troops were killed. He noted that the traffic on the Kadugli-Delling road “returned to normal”.
Clashes have also been reported at two government outposts near Kadugli.
