South Kordofan rebels attack army outpost

South Kordofan rebel fighters claim to have destroyed a Sudanese Army outpost called Al Mograh in Rashad Locality. The attack on 29 August left dead four Sudanese soldiers, according to a statement issued by the spokesman of the Sudan People’s Liberation Army-North (SPLA-N). The spokesman Arno Ngutolo said that rebels seized materiel including a long-distance communication device, a Kalashnikov weapon, and eight boxes of artillery ammunition. According to the statement, the local commissioner of Rashad fled the attack, which was a response to an alleged attack by the Sudanese army on the village of Al Houta. Radio Tamazuj was not able to contact the Sudanese army for comments.
