South Kordofan embarks to stop border trade with South Sudan

Authorities in Sudan’s South Kordofan state have once again put a halt to cross-border trade with South Sudan, voicing their support for the president’s decision to suspend the joint cooperation agreement between Juba and Khartoum.

Authorities in Sudan’s South Kordofan state have once again put a halt to cross-border trade with South Sudan, voicing their support for the president’s decision to suspend the joint cooperation agreement between Juba and Khartoum.

Sources claimed that the authorities have halted what is known “Al Souk Sambuk,” trade between people from Abu al-Jabiha, Rashad and rural areas of north and west Kadugli, explaining this as a requirement of emergency law.

Meanwhile the commissioner Abu al-Jabiha county, Mohammad Fadhel Wani, announced in a press statement that local authorities welcomed the president’s decision to halt all areas of the recent joint cooperation agreement, citing Juba’s non-compliance with regard to its implementation.

The speaker of South Kordofan state’s legislative assembly, Al-hadi Osman Ando, vowed yesterday that he would not negotiate or engage in dialogue with any armed groups until the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) take decisive military action against rebels.

“There will be no negotiations until after the purge of the armed forces and South Kordofan state is freed from insurgency,” Osman announced.
