South Kordofan: Abu Jubeiha market to move

Authorities have decided to shift Abu Jubeiha market from its original place in Bosta residential area in the middle of the town to Shendi Fuk neighbourhood of Hillat Al Jadida.

Authorities have decided to shift Abu Jubeiha market from its original place in Bosta residential area in the middle of the town to Shendi Fuk neighbourhood of Hillat Al Jadida.

A number of traders are dissatisfied with the process. One of them told Radio Tamazuj that the decision was made by the Abu Jubeiha Locality Commissioner Al Fadil Wanis.

He said that the traders will not be compensated for the move and the decision may harm the interests of the traders and the owners of the shops.

“Our conditions have worsened in the last period due to the transfer of the market from its old place to Shendi Fuk, the new residential area,” said the trader who wished to remain anonymous.

“Some people have already a concrete shop and are working in it, so they will ask you to leave the place then you are given a new place and have to rebuild again! This is very hard for us as we have already built shops in these places, then we have to go and build in another new place!” he said.

He added that traders are also being asked to pay new fees of about 5000 Sudanese pounds. Also some traders who now possess more than one shop are being authorized space at the new market for only one.
