The South Darfur State Minister of Investment Abdul-Rahim Hassan Ali said the transportation agreement recently signed between Sudan and South Sudan will contribute toward boosting commercial exchange between the two countries.

In a press statement in Khartoum yesterday, the state official called upon the federal government to facilitate travel between the two Sudans across roads blocked due to security threats.

“Citizens’ movement across borders between Northern Bahr Al-Ghazal and South Darfur has never stopped,” remarked Ali.

He pointed out that about four bordering states in South Sudan depend mainly on consumer products exported from South Darfur.

Ali stressed the importance of the planned restoration of the railway line and Nyala International Airport in increasing commercial exchange between the two neighbouring countries, while announcing the launch of work in Nyala free zone soon.
