Citizens in Katella locality in Sudan’s South Darfur State have called on the federal and state governments to rebuild Al Malam Bridge about 6 kilometres away west of the Katella town.

The bridge links the Katella town with state capital Nyala.

A leading figure from Katella who preferred anonymity told Radio Tamazuj that citizens demand the government repair the bridge as soon as possible.

He pointed out that their locality has been cut off from Nyala town since the bridge collapsed, citing difficulties transferring patients to Nyala town for treatment.

The local leader further said they dispatched a delegation last month to the national government in Khartoum on the matter without any response so far.
