The Executive Director of the Bena Foundation for Entrepreneurship and Development in South Darfur State has said that the crisis in the region has become complex and confusing, indicating that everyone must contribute to finding solutions, especially the youth.

Mohammed Musa Ahmed told Radio Tamazuj on Monday that the foundation was established in light of the Sudanese revolution in 2020 and aims to provide opportunities and empower youth and women politically, socially, and economically.

According to the activist, economic participation must include large sectors of Darfuri society so that every individual can live a decent life and contribute to the gross national income better.

He pointed out that there is an imbalance in the distribution of resources, and without empowering young people financially and economically, their political voice will not be effective.

“Economic empowerment contributes to strengthening their agenda at the negotiating table. This is the reason for supporting the economic empowerment of youth and women,” Musa said.

He revealed that his organization has trained dozens of young people who have obtained technical and new skills like carpentry, food processing, and blacksmithing that will help them enter the market and establish their successful businesses.

Musa said that they succeeded in creating a platform for dialogue. He expects a partnership with the German International Cooperation Foundation to expand the youth base to obtain comfortable loans and partnerships.
