South African Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa said he will meet with leaders of the other SPLM factions after discussing peace with President Salva Kiir in Juba Wednesday.
In a press statement, Ramaphosa said he will next hold talks with the SPLM-IO leader Riek Machar and the SPLM-G10, also known as Former Detainees, on the peace process led by the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD).
The deputy ANC head further said he will also travel to Arusha, Tanzania, where he will observe the outcomes of the SPLA’s intraparty dialogue.
Meanwhile, South Sudan Foreign Minister Barnaba Marial Benjamin praised the role being carried out by the South African government to support the peace process in South Sudan.
He said that he is quite sure that the initiative will bring the views of the warring parties closer. The official hoped that Machar listens to the initiative of the South African government.
