The police in Leer County’s Kaigai Payam in Unity State have arrested three SPLA-IO soldiers on suspicion of last Thursday’s killing of Sub-chief Wicjang Jiech of Dhorroal Boma in Kaigai Payam.
Brig. Gen. Tor Thor, the Director General of Police in Leer County, told Radio Tamazju Tuesday that the soldier accused of killing the sub-chief was identified as Gatkuoth Gatgok Khor, the son of Maj. Gen. Gatgok Khor, who commands the SPLA-IO Division 4 B.
“The three SPLA-IO soldiers who were involved in the killing of the sub-chief are in detention at the SPLA-IO base in Dok Payam,” he stated.
According to Brig. Thor, investigations are ongoing and the culprit will be arraigned before the Mobile Court currently hearing cases at the Leer County headquarters, Leer Town, before it winds up business.
Meanwhile, the SPLA-IO Sector 2 spokesperson in Unity State, Yai Pazale, confirmed to this publication that their soldiers have been detained for the chief’s murder and that they will answer for their crimes.
“Those who killed the sub-chief will face justice, and that is the reason why we have arrested them,” he stated. “We appeal to the family of the late sub-chief to wait for investigations to be completed.”
Meanwhile, Ruai Wal, a resident of Leer Town, welcomed the arrest of the three soldiers suspected of the murder of the sub-chief of Dhorroal Boma.
“It (arrest) is very important to us because the death of the sub-chief created fear among the residents of the town,” he disclosed.
