A soldier committed suicide after picking up a quarrel with his wife at Hai Inkas in Torit town on Thursday, police said.
Torit’s police spokesman Mathew Ochan Jacob told Radio Tamazuj that Marko Lokoya committed suicide after a quarrel with his wife. He pointed out that the deceased was working with the department of wounded heroes.
“After he quarreled with his wife, he entered into a small room and hanged himself there. Both of them were drunk,” he said.
However, Ochan said the security situation during Christmas celebrations remained generally calm and peaceful with no major incidents.
Separately, the governor of Torit Tobiolo Alberio Oromo said during a meeting with a civil society group in Torit town on Friday that many people died due to excessive alcohol consumption in the state.
