Soldier arrested for killing colleague in Mvolo County

The police in greater Amadi have detained a soldier of the South Sudan People’s Defence Forces (SSPDF) suspected of killing his colleague in Yeri Payam, Mvolo County in Western Equatoria State.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Monday, the police CID officer in charge of greater Amadi, Double Seven De Clement, said the suspect who is now in police custody, is suspected of killing Wani William Domoko after a misunderstanding last Friday.  

“Yes, the soldier who shot the person was arrested by CID in Mvolo and the investigation is done and the suspect will be brought here and I will also investigate and I will send it to the state,” said the police officer.

He explains, “There was a small girl, and this soldier who was killed hit the girl in her head. So when the information reached the soldier nearby they run there and met with their colleague on the way because the victim was mentally ill. When he was asked, he denied it and wanted to knife one of the soldiers. Immediately he was shot dead by the suspect."

According to the police, Late William was transferred from his workstation in Juba to Yeri to receive treatment for his mental illness.
