Six wounded in Kawahla tribal clashes in South Kordofan

At least six people have reportedly been wounded in clashes between clans of the Kawahla tribe in Balula area of Tadamun locality in South Kordofan.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj, a reliable source said at least six people from the Kawahla al-Humr and Kawahla al-Zurug clans have sustained serious injuries in clashes using sticks and knives. The source further revealed that they were taken to the hospital for treatment.

Locals explained that the history of clashes between the two clans of the Kawahla tribe apparently dates back to when a militia of the Kawahla al-Humr armed by the local authorities involved them in the war between the government forces and SPLA-North in South Kordofan.

Reportedly the latest clashes took place in the market and subsequently moved to residential areas.

The sources are expecting eruption of confrontation again, while the authorities in the area have been standing by. The sources blamed the authorities for the clashes because they contributed to arming one of the parties.
