Six Sudanese traders were reported killed and two others injured in an attack by unknown gunmen at Daba-Umsajam area in the contested area of Abyei between Sudan and South Sudan on Sunday.
Hamad Al Dodu, Misseriya tribal leader, told Radio Tamazuj that Arab Misseriya traders on two vehicles and ten Rakhsa moved from Diffra area north of Abyei to Mayom County of Unity State. He said the traders were ambushed on their way to Mayom County.
Hamad named the six victims as Musa Mohamed Abdullah, Ibrahim Abu Mohamed, Mahana Mahdi, Ali Adam, Mohamed Osman Kuol and Abakar Ibrahim.
He accused gunmen from Ngok Dinka in Marial Achak area of involvement in the incident.
For his part, Chief Chol Bor Chol from Marial Achak area denied any such incident occurred in the area this week. He claimed there are no armed elements in the area.
