At least six people were killed and 32 others arrested in separate incidences that occurred in the capital Juba during Christmas celebrations, police said.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Monday, the police spokesperson, Major-General Daniel Justin said traffic accidents claimed four lives on December 26, but police authorities are still searching for those who committed the traffic offences.
Justin added that two people were also killed by armed men in Rambur neighborhood. “These are the losses that occurred during Christmas celebrations,” he explained.
The police officer said 27 people were arrested and imprisoned for allegedly committing various crimes in the Gumbo area. Justin added that police also arrested five suspects in connection with the killing of two people in Rambur on December 29.
The police spokesman assured citizens of their safety during New Year celebrations.
