The Commissioner of Maban County in South Sudan’s Upper Nile state said there are shortages of drugs in Maban hospital.
Commissioner Luk Sadalla Deng called on aid organizations and the National Ministry of Health to supply them with medicine.
“There is shortage of drugs in Maban hospital and they are running the hospital with few drugs supply,” he told Radio Tamazuj.
Still, Luk said the health situation is stable, adding that there are decreases in malaria and diarrhea cases.
Separately, the commissioner said the citizens in Maban County are living in a dire condition due to rising prices and scarcity of consumer goods in the markets.
“The situation is very bad and the local community does not have any relief assistance,” he said. He said people are relying on aid given by refugees in the area.
He said the refugees who fled war in neighbouring Sudan’s Blue Nile state are living in better condition than the local community due to the assistance they get from relief agencies in the area.
