Shortage of 'qualified doctors' in Blue Nile's Geissan locality

The Commissioner of the Geissan locality in Blue Nile says the area is experiencing a shortage of qualified doctors in hospitals and health care centers.

Stressing the situation in the locality is “calm”, Commissioner Mansour El Tom Mustafa told Radio Tamazuj that the area has enough medicines available but lacks “qualified doctors”.

He appealed to the concerned authorities to recruit more medical doctors to bridge the medical gap in Geissan locality.

In a separate development, Mustafa said the local citizens are celebrating successful agricultural season this year.

The Head of Upper Nile’s Farmers Union, Mahdi Khalifa El Shambali, confirmed the commissioner's statements when speaking to Radio Tamazuj: “The security situation, especially on the White Nile-Upper Nile border is relatively calm. Also, the sesame harvest started at Goz, Abu Jarada, and other agriculture schemes along the South Sudan-Sudan border on 15 October.”

El Shambali said there is “plenty of workforce” for this season as the areas reserved for planting were reduced due to the little rainfall this year.
