Shooting in Pibor forces civilians to seek protection at UNMISS compound

The situation was tense in Pibor on Tuesday with civilians fleeing the town following random shooting in the town.

Additionally, a number of NGO workers traveling to Pibor from Juba turned back to Juba on Tuesday due to insecurity in the area.

Sources from the area reported that soldiers loyal to former Chief Administrator of Greater Pibor Administrative Area David Yau Yau have allegedly warned that they will shoot down any plane that carries the newly appointed governor Baba Medan to the state.

On Tuesday afternoon, a humanitarian relief plane was interrupted by militia who mistook it for Baba Medan's plane. The plane returned back to Juba without being hit by bullets.
