A shea butter (lulu) factory was on Tuesday officially launched with the support of UNDP in Wulu County of Lakes State on Tuesday.
The commissioner of Wulu County, Jima Diffala Rejab, told Radio Tamazuj Tuesday that the shea butter factory is the first of its kind in the area and will create a lot of jobs and in the community.
“As the commissioner of Wulu County, I can see this lulu factory will bring a lot of benefits to the community,” Commissioner Diffala said. “This is the first factory of its kind to open in Wulu County. It will generate a lot of revenue and it will benefit the community of Wulu and Lakes State.”
He added that the factory will create jobs for the redundant women in the community.
The commissioner said the people in the county can now purchase oil cheaply as opposed to the expensive ones imported from Juba and neighboring countries.
He thanked UNDP for helping to set up the factory and said more than 30 skilled women have already been employed at the facility and that the community must own and put it to good use.
“My message to the community of Wulu county is to own their Lulu factory. This factory will benefit them,” Commissioner Diffala said. “The organization which provided this factory to the community has done its work. If the communities want anything from the government, I am ready to provide it, like security. I am ready to provide general security to the factory in case there are criminals who want to loot things from there.”
