Sewage overflow causes partial closure of Sennar hospital

The administration of Sennar state halted surgical operations late last week in Senja after sewage overflowed and flooded the hospital’s only operating room as well as some of its wards.

Sources claimed that a company conducting maintenance caused closure of the hospital’s main sewage channel.

They added that doctors have had to transfer patients to rural hospitals outside of Sinja in order to have surgery and highlighted a resulting build-up of patients at the hospital requiring treatment.

In addition, doctors complained also of the long distances as they try to follow up on the condition of patients in the surrounding rural hospitals and urged the authorities to seek an immediate solution.
