Local authorities in Sudan’s West Kordofan State have arrested several suspects of involvement in recent clashes between the Jamaniya and Awlad Sabieh clans in En Nahud town, a peace mediator said.
Dozens of people were killed recently when fresh clashes erupted between the Jamaniya and Awlad Sabieh groups of the Hamar tribe at Shaq el-Hadha area in the north of En Nahud town.
Adam Agidat, head of the peace and reconciliation committee in West Kordofan, told Radio Tamazuj that investigations are underway with suspects in an attempt to identify the perpetrators and bring them to book. He pointed out that some wounded people were arrested in connection with the incident.
Agidat revealed that military forces have already been deployed between the two feuding clans in an attempt to prevent further clashes. He claimed that the security situation returned to normal, while commending the two clans for working hard to contain the security situation.
