A special court in Sennar State set up for the trial of suspected members of the Sudan People Liberation Army-North has set 19 – 20 February to continue hearing of the remaining defence witnesses, after which rulings are expected.

The court completed hearing 53 defence witnesses last Wednesday and Thursday. The witnesses were speaking on behalf of various members of the group of 78 SPLA-N suspects facing charges under articles 21, 50 and 51 of the penal code and article 6 of the anti-terrorism law.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj yesterday, Al Tijani Hassan, a member of the Sudanese Organization for the Defence of Rights and Freedoms, said the court is likely to adjudicate in the cases after 20 February.

The lawyer noted he will travel to Sinja town today to attend the judicial hearing of the remaining defence witnesses.
