The State Ministry of Physical planning and Public Utilities in Sudan’s Sennar State launched a pilot phase of a road construction on Sunday in the state.
The constriction of the Sennar-Wad Abbas-El Barsi road, which is about 34 kilometres, was launched in the presence of East Sennar Commissioner, Director General at the Physical Planning Ministry as well as a representative of the Roads and Bridges Ministry.
During the launch, the East Sennar commissioner emphasised the importance of the road in boosting production and economic growth as well as transportation costs reduction.
Meanwhile, Director General El Rashid Ahmed El Amin said the road is one of the pilot projects being implemented by the ministry this year. He added that the total cost of the road is 58 million Sudanese pounds, supported from the presidency.
For his part, the representative of the Ministry of Roads and Bridges announced that they handed over the plan and the zero point to the Sennar Company for Roads and Bridge so that it implements the project. The official pointed out that the work would start as soon as they submitted the plan to the company.
