Sennar court adjourns trial of opposition members to Sunday

A Sennar court has yesterday adjoined its session for the criminal trial of several opposition figures in the state up to 8 March.

A Sennar court has yesterday adjoined its session for the criminal trial of several opposition figures in the state up to 8 March.

Local authorities recently arrested about seven opposition members as well as students who were organizing an anti-election rally in the state.

Some of the arrested figures were identified as Abu Obeida Saeed, a leading member of the Sudanese Communist Party, El Mahi Suleiman of the Sudanese Congress Party as well as several students from the Independent Students Congress.

A source told Radio Tamazuj that a large number of citizens who are supporting the detained opposition leaders went to the court to attend the court session.
