Security forces in Tambura County of Western Equatoria State say they shot and killed two suspected criminals on Monday night.
The county commissioner Mathew Mabenge told Radio Tamazuj that the suspects clashed with security forces when they tried to steal a solar panel at a secondary school compound.
“It was around half past 1:00 am. The thieves went to the secondary school to dismantle the solar panel. Then they clashed with the government forces which resulted in the death of two thieves and our forces survived without any casualties,” he added.
According to the commissioner, 22-year-old Viva Raphael and another unidentified young man were killed in the shootout.
Mabenge said the families of the deceased took the bodies for burial.
