Security organs arrests dozens of Nyala university students

Security personnel arrested dozens of students at Nyala University after they came out to demonstrate against a rise in transportation tariffs.

The students protested for three days against the rise in transportation tariffs and the deteriorating environment at the university.

Police forcibly dispersed the protesters with tear gas and batons.

A number of students said the security apparatus and Rapid Support Force (RSP) entered the Nyala university main campus with four-wheel drive cars and heavy arms Wednesday afternoon and arbitrarily arrested dozens of students.

They claimed also that a security vehicle ran over two students causing them fractures and one student was taken to the hospital.

They also pointed that police have arrested more than 50 students who were taken to police custody and cases were opened against them but later 35 students were freed.

Sources said that an unknown number of students were still in security detention centers.
