The Police Commissioner in Western Bahr-el-Ghazal State, Major General Samuel Ajuong Chwar, said they are investigating the circumstances in which a 30-year-old National security officer took his own life in Wau on Thursday.
In a short statement to the media, Chwar said the officer committed suicide because of a domestic dispute.
“There is an officer from the security that committed suicide on 27 May at South Sudan Hotel and he was with his wife. The details are not yet clear, but he committed suicide and it is related to other issues and this is what we want to tell you,” said Gen. Chwar.
The police boss disclosed that the investigations into the matter are ongoing and will involve the woman with who the deceased was.
“The investigations are ongoing, this is what I want to tell you,” he said.
An eyewitness who preferred anonymity said the officer identified as Dimo Majok was seen entering the hotel with a lady but a few minutes later the lady left the hotel. A gunshot was heard in the room and the man was found dead on the floor.
