Residents of the town of Bor in Jonglei State have acknowledged that the security situation has improved following the recent crackdown on gangs, commonly known as niggers.

Residents of the town of Bor in Jonglei State have acknowledged that the security situation has improved following the recent crackdown on gangs, commonly known as niggers.

The town of Bor, has since January, witnessed a rise in violence.

“I am happy that police has finally intervened. Now, there is no indecent dressing among girls and boys. Our children changed,” Mary Ajulu, a resident of Bor, told Radio Tamazuj on Tuesday. 

Suzie Abraham, another resident, urged the government to maintain the improved security situation in order for citizens not to live in fear.

Joseph Mayen Akoon, the state police commissioner attributed the improved security situation on the recent crackdown of gang groups.

“We arrested 29 members of gang groups who move at night and dress indecently. They were imprisoned for three months and fined 20,000 SSP each. They are scared and the security situation is now calm,” he said.

Mayen urged parents to keep their children engaged in schools and cultural events.
