Members of the security forces in South Sudan’s Western Lakes State have recovered 3,450,000 SSP, which a businessman from Sudan’s Darfur region lost on Thursday last week.
Salah Eldin Abdelrahman, who sells maize flour in Rumbek market, lauded the security forces for helping him recover the stolen money.
“This person just pretended he had some dollars equivalent to 3,450,000 SSP for exchange, but he later on failed to bring the dollars after he had gone with money,” Salah told Radio Tamazuj Tuesday.
“I would like to appreciate the security forces for providing us security and protection in the market particularly after what happened to me on April 4, 2019 at about 9:30am. The security forces have made it possible to stand with me during investigations until I recover my money from the cheater,” he added.
The Sudanese business community chairman in Rumbek, Adam Ahmed Adam said the suspect was identified to be hailing from Maridi State.
“He [the suspect] took everything from Salah Eldin, almost an amount of SSP 3,450, 000,” said.
He lauded the state governor and members of the organized security forces for providing maximum security to business people.
Crimes related to fake dollars, he said, are common in the market.
On his part, chairperson of business community in Western Lakes State, Francis Mading Dut lauded the police for recovering the money.
Dut said the suspect is in police custody for thorough investigations.
