The leadership of the Darfur Joint Force has announced their successful mission in securing the arrival of approximately 1,200 trucks laden with essential food and medical supplies in the cities of El Fasher and El Daein on Wednesday.
The convoy carried a critical cargo of medicines, relief materials, commercial goods, and 100 fuel tankers, all journeying from White Nile State to the Darfur region. This is part of a broader initiative to facilitate the movement of commercial convoys and restore a sense of normalcy in the region.
Local citizens eagerly gathered along the streets to welcome the convoys, with children’s cheers filling the air. Their hopes are pinned on the much-needed medical aid to shield them from the escalating threats of dengue fever and malaria in the area.
Maj. Ahmed Hussein Adrob, Head of the Media Committee of the Darfur Joint Force, shared details with Radio Tamazuj on Thursday, stating, “The ‘lifeline’ convoys have successfully reached El Daein and El Fasher. Additionally, arrangements have been put in place to dispatch more convoys to Nyala, El Geneina, and Zalingei.”
He further highlighted their commitment to aiding Sudanese refugees in Chad by sending trucks loaded with medicines to refugee camps in the neighbouring country.
“We have devised a comprehensive plan to deploy our forces across the region to ensure the seamless delivery of aid, despite limited resources. Our forces are stationed in Nyala, with strongholds in various neighbourhoods to help combat crime and eliminate lawlessness,” Hussein said.
