Security briefly detains activist in al-Fula, West Kordofan

Security forces in Sudan’s West Kordofan have arrested activist Ismail al-Dekhairi in al-Fula allegedly for criticizing government policies and lack of development in the area.

Security forces in Sudan’s West Kordofan have arrested activist Ismail al-Dekhairi in al-Fula allegedly for criticizing government policies and lack of development in the area.

Witnesses told Radio Tamazuj that security personnel have arrested Ismail Monday from the market where he repeatedly talks about the deteriorating of services and lacks of development in places where citizens are gathering in al-Fula.

They added that dozens of citizens protested in front of the National Security office in al-Fula demanding for his release and threatened not to leave the security office unless they release him.

The security has released him later Monday evening.

Mohammed Ahmed, a political activist in West Kordofan revealed to Radio Tamazuj Tuesday that there is complains among the citizens about the failure of the state government to deliver services to the people.

He added that people on the street are accusing the governor of West Kordofan of providing services to the citizens in the northern part of the state while ignoring the south part.
